Good money management = Closer walk with God

In our Christian journey I am sure we all struggle with exactly how we can have a closer walk with God. I certainly am not here today to minimize the importance of our personal time with the Lord or of being an active member of a good Bible teaching church. These are undeniably vital in deepening our relationship with Jesus Christ.

But let me suggest another way we can deepen our relationship with Christ. That way would be to handle our money the way He tells us to in His Word. John 14:21 says: "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him" Wouldn't you agree that Christ disclosing Himself to us would define the process of having a closer walk with God?

This verse is referring to the Word of God when it talks about "My commandments". The Bible has over 2300 verses on handling our money and possessions. So wouldn't the logical conclusion be that if we follow God's instructions in those 2300+ verses about handling our money and possessions the result would be a closer walk with God?

Henry Blackaby in his book "Experiencing God" makes this statement: "The more we obey God, the more we experience God or get to know Him". Luke 16:11 says: "Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?" Unrighteous wealth would include money and a closer walk with God could certainly be included with the true riches.

So I guess the conclusion would have to be that under God's economy: Good money management does equal a closer walk with God.
